NATIONWIDE, USA, April 1, 2025 - In a bold and intensified confrontation that could shape the future of labour relations in the video game industry, quality assurance testers in ZeniMax Media – a Microsoft subsidiary – voted massively to allow a strike. This historic vote, approved with more than 94% support from members of the ZeniMax Workers United-CWA union, indicates a significant escalation in the ongoing collective negotiations with the technology giant that have been dragged away for almost two years without a final contract.
According to the statements of union leaders and workers, frustrations have arisen over what they call stagnating wages, rigid return policies and outsourcing of QA work without union consultation. ZeniMax Workers United-CWA is supported by Local Communications Workers (CWA) 2100, 2108 and 6215 and includes more than 300 QA testers through studies in Maryland and Texas. These employees, many of whom have contributed to prestigious launches such as Fallout, Starfield and Doom, are now ready to attack if progress is not made in negotiations with Microsoft.
